Meditation & Mindfulness

It is challenging to settle down the many thoughts that race through our minds, and often, the more we try to suppress them, the louder they become. A way to calm these thoughts and the worry that sometimes accompany them, is through the practice of meditation. Studies show that some of the benefits of meditating regularly even for periods as short as 10 minutes are reduced stress, emotional balance, increased focus, reduced pain, reduced anxiety, increased creativity, reduced depression, increased memory, increased compassion, increased productivity.

“The best way to take care of the future is to take care of the present moment.”

Thich Nhat Hanh

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention to the present moment. This state encompasses observing one’s thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad. To live mindfully is to live in the moment and reawaken oneself to the present, rather than dwelling on the past or anticipating the future. Mindfulness can also be a healthy way to identify and manage latent emotions that are causing problems in personal or professional relationships. Below are some resources to get you started on quieting the chatty mind and stepping into mindfulness.
